1994 steering problems

1994 steering problems

have a 1994 F150 XLT 4wheel drive. Steering box is leaking fluid. Never have dealt with anything like this. Does the whole rack have to be replaced? Can i trust used parts or gulp buy new only? HELP

Is it just leaking fluid? or is there another reason you want to replace the whole unit?

leaking like a sieve. thought it was just the power steering unit, but not that easy. Should i just worry about the steering box or no?

you can buy a rebuild kit for the steering box. that will replace all/most seals and bearings. if thats not an option i would trust a known honest salvage yard in your area

i just had to replace all my seals in my gear box in my 94. if you by a rebuild kit, when you put the seals back in use a wooden doul to push the seal all way done the frist time i did they didn't seat all the way and my gear box kept leaking. but now she good as new since i did that way.
