Funny both of my 81's - both I6, both sticks T18 & SROD (OD) and I don't remember seeing a shift light.
IIRC it was blacked out but will recheck it when out in the garage again as they are both sitting on the bench waiting for their time for the best to be installed.
Being 81's neither were a feed back system so no ECM.
