I test drove a 2001 F-350 7.3L auto with 85K miles on it yesterday. When I went to pull it out of park it was so difficult, I thought I didn't have my foot on the brake all the way.
I asked about it and they said they had their mechanic replace the linkage but that it didn't help and he said it was common on these. Has anyone ever heard of this? Everything else seemed great and it's low miles for my price range. I'm just concerned if it's a problem within the tranny itself.
Definitely have it checked by a transmission shop or the dealer before buying. It could be something simple (most likely as it has low miles) or a very costly repair. The dealership should be willing to let you take it anywhere you want to have it checked out. If they are not, just walk away.
