Honestly I hate Goodyear tires in water and snow. They are such a hard compound, they last a long time. But hard equals bad traction. The reason people love Michelin's for traction is because they have a soft compound. They won't last as long, but they go through anything.
A really good tire, that is reasonable is a Cooper Discoverer. In my opinion (for what it's worth) it is the best snow traction tire out there. Even over Michelin.
