Transmission Shift Points / Full Throttle

Hey Guys on my 6.7 I have opened it up a few times from the line and noticed that the engine does not rev past 3000 rpms when it shifts to 2nd. Is this what everyone else sees? With a red line of 4000 rpms I would think that the shift from 1st to 2nd would be closer to the redline of the motor. Just curious.

Redline is never usually near the torque curve of the engine. If its a dragster, then more-so yes, but a diesel, no.

The torque curve is probably just below 3000 RPM, that wy it pulls to 3000, then shifts back into the beginning of the torque curve so you don't loose the torque in the next gear.

Is there a spec that tells you what max HP and max torque are at specific RPM's? Like a sticker on the engine somewhere?

My understanding is max torque is at 1,600 RPM and max HP at 2,800 RPM.

That's correct. There is no point in revving past 3,000 because the power curves are going in the wrong direct. Personally, I have been amazed at how the truck keeps the rpms in the perfect position when I need them. Pulling hard it stays nicely right at the peak power output all by itself. No need to manage on my part.
