Yea I am glad if finally passed, I do have to admit it seems to run better, time will tell though. I was expecting them to find something wrong on the safety inspection because being as it is older than most of the guys working there they crawled over it from one end to the other. But they had to give up being as nothing is wrong with it.
Just did a 302 ford with a 650quick fuel and jetted around 59 on primarys. We are at 4000ft elevation. My big block also jetted around 69 on primarys 800cfm carb. Little lean on big block because I run up mountain and need the leaner jetting. Glad you passed. Also on the engine your timing chain is my question. Might be time for chain, starting to stretch some and will give a false reading on dampner. i believe your jetted about right for your elevation if a small block. Catch you later!!
well 40 miles round trip to work and back and the truck scoots down the freeway at 75 just fine. I do have a slight hesitation right off idle that I need to sort out, but it only does it if I get on it hard from the start.
If you have a timing light that let's you advance the timing and set it by using zero on the Balancer...I always set mine to 38 Degrees total at 3500 rpm....lock it...double check it...and it runs beautiful!! Also..don't forget that you MUST unhook the vacuum line at the distributor and plug it (Carb Side)
Fordtrucknut - I have a 79 F350 with a 400 2BBL with some timing issues. I also have the timing light that I can advance the timing. Can you explain your timing procedure? Mine is set to 8 to 10 BDC but I have a slight hesitation at some lower RPM's.

I just have the basic MAC timing light, I retarded my timing a couple of degrees today and the hesitation seems to be gone. Going to drive it a few days and see.
It's total timing....As long as you have an ADVANCE timing light you can do it...you set the advance on the timing light to 38 Degrees BTDC...and use zero on the balancer to set it to...Unhook the vacuum line off the distributor and plug it( The line not the distributor..LOL)....loosen the distributor hold down bolt and make sure distributor can be turned...351M/400 are notorious for freezing to the block...make sure engine has been warmed up...it helps if you have a helper with a very steady foot...get every thing all set and ready...have your helper rev engine to 3500 rpm...and hold it there as steady as possible and adjust your timing to zero (with light set at 38 degrees)...lock it down...come back to idle....take it back up to make sure you are right on...then you can check at idle what your timing is running at...always works great for me.
Fordtrucknut - Thanks for the advice. I have the Snap On timing light with the Advance **** but I never used it because I wasn't sure about the procedure but now I know.
