Pulling trans

I am about to pull the 5r110 out of my 4x4 Excursion. Any tips that make it easier or lessons learned the hard way from others?

Or is just the same as any other automatic?

Thanks

It's the same as any other, except that the trans and transfer case together are over 400 pounds. Don't let it fall on you!

Is it easier to take them off seperate? We are doing it without a lift but I am picking up a tranny jack.

Yes, pull the t-case first, then the transmission. Pull the transfer case off the extension housing, don't remove the housing from the trans first as there may not be room (depending on where the tank is) and the housing has the transmission mount on it.
