Your trucks have different communication protocols between the PCM and other modules on the vehicle. Lots of stuff won't work.
Your EX has a glow plug control module and my bet is that his truck has a glow plug relay.
Your PATS system will not work with the chip installed. It'll start and run, but the PATS will be disabled and you'll have to unplug the module under the dash to keep the "theft" light from flashing in your face.
