I just got a 2001 Excursion with 12" of lift and 38x18.5x16.5 wheels at a steal. The guy I got it from bought it the way it sits now and wasn't much help with info on the lift kit. All he could tell me is it had a 12" lift on it, but I am not to sure its that much of a lift mself. Alot of the parts are blue anodized but I can't find a brand name on it anywhere. Does anyone know how to find out or have a guess on who may make a kit with the blue anodized parts? I figure there can't be to many companies use this color on their parts. I love the ride and have alot of additions planned but it is killin me wanting to know more about this lift. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is my 1st post so I am going to have to figure out how to post some pics of it. Thanks in advance.....
i think ProComp has some blue parts as well. but if it's majority blue i'd have to say fabtech as well.
you can go to photo bucket (or similar pic hosting web site), load your pics, and then either load them onto your reply, or at least put the link to the pic on photo bucket.
Here is the link to photobucket I hope it works. Pictures by Dr-Detail-TN - Photobucket When I picked it up from the guy it was nasty. I leaned the interior and it now looks like new. There is nothing wrong with it other than a small 3" cut in the rear seat which I will probably be removing anyway. I finally got all the mud from the undercarriage and out of all the nooks and crannys. I am now starting the process of paint correction on the ride and from what I have done so far it should come out looking like new other than a few minor scratches that can de repaired fairly cheap. I traded a bike I had 4500.00 in so I only have 4500.00 in it so far. I do have to put new tires on it which set me back 1400.00 and will be here next week. So I will have 6500.00 in it after I get the tires mounted and it serviced my buddies garage. I think I got a hell of a deal myself. I will post some more photos when I get done detailing it and get the new meats on it. I appreciate the responses on the lift kit. I will have to check out the Fabtech website. I got plans for a safari rack, black nerf bars, black brush guard or a topgun style bumper and guard setup and matching rear bumper, and other minor stuff. I am glad I found this website it is going to be very helpful and I will probably have some questions along the way...lol.. To be continued......
It has the 7.3L diesel with 92,830 miles, Weld 16.5x14 wheels, Superchip installed, 4" exhaust, and K&N cold air intake. I got 4 new KC lights to go on a drop bar below the front bumper im gonna install and alot more in mind to do to it now. The only downside is that it has a salvage title but it was a theft recovery and on the title it has Anit-theft inspection passed. I did pull a carfax and it found that is was 1st registered to a Georgia company as a corporate fleet vehicle and was stolen. In Georgia they issue a salvage title on stolen vehicles and I was told that is why is has the anti-theft inspection on the Tennessee title. There was no reports other than the Ga incident on the carfax. So all in all I think I got a steal in this Excursion and besides that I love the thing. I would like to hear any opinions as to what you think about the title situation. Will it hurt the value alot or with the carfax and stolen info I have not hurt it that much? This is the only thing that kinda worries me about it all but then again if I dont sell it I really don't have much to worry about. I am in the mobile detailing business and had been working out of a van so now I ordered a new 6x12 trailer that is black with the nice wheels to tow behind my new to me EX to work out of. I think it will draw more attention and help my detail business out. Not to mention I sure get alot of looks around town in it..lol I will post some more pics after this weekend when I am finished detailing it.
Been into diving since 2002 and I love it, I just don't get to do it as often as I like. Yes the tires are legal, but I do get hassled by the cops in Virgina when I cross through on occasion and yes you do get some chips due to them slinging rocks and misc itmes up. In the rain it shoots a helluva rooster tail and I pitty anyone driving behind me. I love it the way it is. I actually just ordered new Sumper Swamper 39.5 x 18.5 x 16.5 today online. Once you go lifted you NEVER go back. I am just use to it I guess since I have had 6 different lifted trucks and SUV's over the years. Plus it does attract alot of attention and it helps with the detail business plastered all over the sides. I will put some new pic up with the new tires and few other things like new black headlights and tail lights up when im done.
I'm with you on the lifted part Dr. Detail. I drive big rigs and it's not really a difference between the two for as far as seat height. So far, I haven't been stopped in the VA yet, but I know it's coming.
