5'' Rough Country vs. 6" Zone lift kit

My '03 X's front springs are shot and it's time to upgrade. Was looking at the 5'' rough country or the 6'' Zone kit. Only want to run a 35x12.5x20 tire, but dont know what one to get. The RC lift has a drop pitman arm and drop down trac bar bracket. The Zone kit DON'T, it only has a new trac bar. The RC lift has anti-wrap lift blocks, the Zone kit has stacked blocks . Sounds like the RC lift is better in my book. Anyone run these lift kit that could tell me how they drive and feel going down the road. Any you got any pics of one of those lifts on your truck post them up. I looked on here already not to many with the RC lift and didn't find anything really on the Zone lift kit. And don't want a BIG dollar lift becuase that will take money from my other "toys". Thanks guys....

if they sell a stacked block kit i would RUN very fast. the only way to do a stacked block kit is to have the blocked drilled in the center to have an aligning pin through them so they dont spit out under hard acceleration.
had a guy here recently that had this happen to him.

I have seen the rough country lift on several trucks and got feed back from most of them. They all seem to like it a lot and said it was a huge improvement over stock. I plan on getting the RC kit just waiting to get the Ex mechanically sound before I start lifting it. I like the looks of the RC lift and the anti-wrap block is a nice bonus. Also none of the guys I talked with had to make any changes to their drive-shafts which is nice to. They did say the ride was a little stiffer then stock, but not as rough as some of the other lifts. I have never rode in one so cant confirm that.

Don't get a lift with stacked blocks, bad things happen.

If you go with the RC post up some pics, would like to see the lift with stock rims.

I've got the Zone 6" kit and the stacked blocks exploded as soon as I looked at the truck.

True story.

In all seriousness, it's been a fine kit. The stacked blocks didn't bother me. My plan is to replace them with a 6" BDS leaf this summer after saving up a little more money. Zone is BDS's little sister company.

It rides a bit rougher than stock. Some trimming was needed in the bumper area to clear my 35" x 12.5" tires on 20" x 12" rims with a -44 offset with 4.75" backspacing.

And now on to the pictures.

That was me with the stacked block issue

The RC lift was fine in and of itself, the issue with the stacked blocks came up when we re-leveled after the initial lift due to the front sitting and inch or two too high relative to the back end.

Also, the 5" will accommodate 35s easily. I think several guys on here do it with a 4".

So the 5" RC lift didn't sit level? I called them and asked about how it sits and they said the front will site high for about 6 months, then once the springs settle it should level out. Hope you dont have to change out your blocks once it settles.

The guy that installed my lift said give it 500 miles. We probably waited 3-4 months and it was still noticably high. That is with a 4x4 6.0.

Dont know if I should have waited longer, but it did not seem to be settling. For a while I was trying to brake firmly to make the nose push down and flex the springs. No idea if that works.

I have the Rc kit and love it, no trimming to run 35x12.5 with 4.5bs, handles great, anti axle wrap block are huge! Did sit high in the front for about a month. Hope that helps

Also if you want more lift later on I was told by R/c you can change the rear springs to superduty, and throw a leveling kit in the front with no steering or track bar issues.
