Recently my trucks been running like crap, alomost like its running out of gas. When it idles it misses and stumbels randomly and when driving it has no power and misses the whole time. Once in awhile it is fine maybe for a few seconds while driving. I know im getting spark and everything.
One thing that puzzles me is that a removed my front tank about a month ago cause it was rusted. But know when I flip from the back to the front tank it still runs! Could this be just the switch on the dash? Or is the tank selector valve thing bad?
You may get a lot of "check your fuel filters" replies.
I was thinking that your truck's fuel-lines would have to be used up (when you switch tanks to the non-existant one) for it to stall. It wouldn't die for some distance. There's maybe 5-6 feet of fuel-line filled with gas to use up.
I actually replaced my fuel filter about ten minutes ago. Didnt change anything. And I ran the truck with the swith on the front tank for a minute atleast and still didnt die.
Ok ill try running it longer and see if it dies. But it still doesnt explain why it runs so bad. Can the tank selector valve get clogged? I want to get rid of the dual tank stuff and put in a tank from a later model f150 with just the single high pressure in tank pump.
Can you get a fuel pressure reading? When my 94 Bronco did this I tried so many things ($$$) and it ended up being the drivers' side O2 sensor. The codes I was throwing (any codes on your truck btw?) had nothing to do with what was actually wrong. So after like a few hundred dollars of wasted attemps, a $30.00 sensor was to blame.
The only code I get is 33 which is the egr opening not deteced I believe. I blocked off the egr though so I don't think it's that. I have replaced the o2 sensor a few weeks ago. I actually replaced the iac and tps sensor also with no luck. I'm not sure of the fuel pressure, I ordered a gauge a few days ago so I should get it soon. I do know both pumps work, I jumped them on the test port and they both ran.
