stalling

Hi guys I don't post often get most of my advice from previous treads but I haven't seen anything on this in here although I may have just missed it. So my 1987 f350 is stalling out. It seems like a fuel problem. It started in the front tank I would be driving along fine then it would feel like I was running out of gas. Simple fix I just used the rear tank all was fine for a year or so now same problem. A few other things to help 1 when I fill the back tank and park over night there is a mall puddle of diesel under the truck, I can't quite find where it is coming from. 2 when I changed the mechanical fuel pump I saw some diesel looked like it was from the steel lines from under the air filter to the cylinder. Don't know what they are called but they are hard to find and expensive. Any ideas.

Sounds like either your tank(s) or lines are rusted and leaking.

How much fuel is in the tank when you feel it starving?
When it feels like its running out does it actually stall?
If it stalls does it immediately restart?

the small lines on top are injector lines. the rubber ones are return lines, some wetness in this area is normal, dripping or squirting is not good. the fuel tank has a pick up tube that can rott off making the truck run bad, or stall below the 1/4 tank mark. easy fix is a rubber hose. the fix is called shower head by some.

So I was just about to run an experiment because it seems to be a problem under 1/4 tank.so I was going to fill and drive to see what happens. Yes it stalls and no it is hard to start after it stalls. Injector lines are not are dripping or spraying. Lines are not steel they were replaced by previous owner tank is not rusted out either. The puddle of diesel after filling is under the engine near the back not the tank or along the lines. Thanks for ideas keep them coming I will chase it down with your help

The shower head fix is that hose in the tank? Is it attached to the fuel pump?

Its in the tank on the bottom of the sending unit. The link shows the part that fails...can buy a new one or just use some submersible fuel hose in its place.

Do a search theres many posts on this already.
