What's up guys. I have an 06 f150 crewcab with the small v8. I want to put a new muffler on it just to get a little more sound out of it. I figure I'll go with Flow Master or Magnaflow. I had a flow dumped before the axle on my last truck which was a bagged daily/show truck. And i loved the sound it made but i hated the in cab drone while cruising on long highway trips to shows. This truck is no show truck but we use it as our main transport on trips. What muffler would you guys suggest that sounds good but won't drone out the cab? Thanks for the help!
If your looking for no drone I would go with Gibson Performance, Ive had my 3" single for about a month and absolutely love it! It sounds good at WOT but on the highway sounds completly stock in cab.
I purchased the Gibson Supertruck Cat-back stainless steel muffler for my 2008 Screw. It has a nice sound at idle and no interior drone while cruzin. I purchased it through one of FTE sponsors Autoanything, free shipping and they have discount coupon codes.
i had mbrp on my 07 f150 and loved them. if you are looking for a muffler and not an exhaust system. look at hooker aerochambers. i had a set on a mustang and really likes them.
To everyone saying flowmasters drone. Are you guys running duals, dumping the exhaust or what? I have a 40 series with factory pipe just cut off the oem muffler and replaced it with a flow and a lil bit of extra pipe. It is not nearly loud enough for me. I want to keep the factory look of one pipe. I will probably not change it as i got the muffler for free but if i had it to do over i would have went with 3" pipe and a glasspack. Maybe im just used to louder trucks or going deaf lol
I have a 40 Series (knock-off version of flowmaster, ask your muffler shop, saved me $40) SIDO with tips out the back. I love the sound of it. plenty of rumble driving around town with the windows down and not much drone. I drive about 250 miles every weekend without ever having a problem with it.
