True Trac in 09 150FX4

I just picked up a 09 150 FX4, it has that electronic locking rearend. Can that be replaced with a True Trac Diff, without screwing up the feed back system or computer? I asked a tech at the dealership, he looked at me like I had 6 heads. lol.

So the Electronic locker is in fact a locking diff and not some fancy ABS/Traction control stunt?

It is a true locker. The really cool thing is, it's now offered throughout the superduty line-up. That alone gives me hope that the F-150's will all have the option soon.

It would be a great addition to someone that wants to pull a boat in and out of the water, but doesn't really need a 4x4. To bad it's only for the FX4.

Hmmm..Ok, so no one knows if A true trac can be put in a 09 F150 Fx4? I want to eliminate the factory electronic locking diff and put in a True Trac. Right now the factory diff only locks up if you pull out the **** of the 4x4 selector, and it only locks up under 20mph. Thats no great benifit. Over 20, it acts like a open diff. I removed the open diff in my 08 F350 and put in a true trac, it was the best thing I ever did to it. I just dont want to screw anything up on the truck if it doesnt read the electronic diff being there.

^ How are you looking to use the truck?

The True Trac, or any limited slip diff, will act as an open diff unless you have varying wheel speed. Even then, its common for LS diffs to allow the wheel with less traction to spin around 3 times faster than the wheel with more traction. I doubt you be in situations on the street that will have the True Trac engaging at speeds over 20 MPH.

I am in the mountains of Maine and Vermont, snowmobiling all winter. That is why I changed out my open diff to a true trac in my F350. I never got stuck with it, yes i sometimes have wheel speed over 20 when climbing some hills to get up to the house or to parking areas. So if the wheel speed goes over 20, does that mean the locking diff in my 150 FX4 will disengage? That will suck.

it will only disengage when coasting with no throtle, not when your running wot. and is't it 35 mph

same thing it will not engage if right and left wheel are not at the same speed
