Mecum Auto Actions will have a 1978 F100 Ranger Lariat at the Aug 13th Montery, CA event. This truck has 37k miles and was featured in Classic Truck Magazine in March 2009. Check it out on the Mecum web site.
What is your guess that the selling price will be and post it up. Mine is $20,500.
This must be the one you're talking about, it's a shortbed which can actually be valued higher than a longbed...I've seen it in an auto value book. My guess it will sell for about $17,000. Although with multi bidders, who knows how high it could sell for. Check it out here: 1978 Ford F100 Ranger Lariat Pickup for sale by Mecum Auction
Because it has been in a magazine, one owner and 38,000 origonal miles I would bet high, but it looks wrong with that racetrack chrome and rocker pannel chrome, and it looks like an old man truck, no offense to old people. My final bet would be $21,000 absolute tops.
I think it has about every piece of chrome option on it there was! It is a real looker, and kind of agree with it being overly trimmed, but I say with one owner, and that low of mileage, it is going to bring in between, $22,000 and $27,500, when two rich "old men" battle it out to own it. Remember, they grew up when chrome was king, and it is going to have a WOW factor for them that younger guys see as being over done.
