Need some fresh ideas from you guys! Some time ago I switched cabs on my 2000 f250,2wd,auto. Since then my brakes are hard and now again PS pump whining and steering bad. Replaced ps pump before and it helps a little. Going to replace again, and the hoses. Truck throws no code, I may have cracked open a ABS line long ago on accident.(when changing over cab). Drivers front brake keeps developing hot spot, had rotor turned, does it again.( not sure if thats related) Replaced hydro boost before, bleed system. This is driving me crazy and its dangerous to drive.. Any ideas? thanks
I had warped rotors on my 2001 CC F350 SRW. These trucks are heavy and if you do a fair amount of driving in town with a lot of stop and go I'm not suprised if you're having issues.
I think that mine were warped at +/- 65,000 miles. Front pads still good just the rotors were warped.
I ran across a problem similar to this with the sterring pump whining and so forth. I also had a history of going through rotors on the passenger side of my truck and a constant build up of brake dust on the rim. My issue ended up being the caliper itself sticking. Now my truck had 191K on it and still running the original caliper. Once correcting the caliper with a rebuilt unit, new caliper and new pads, the whining has stopped and no more dust or pulling to the right anymore.
A couple things to ponder, one, make sure it's ATF and not powersteering fluid in power steering pump. Two, I and several others believe the rotors are not heavy enough to begin with, hence the warping and turning them down will only result in more warping and probably sooner. And Three, make sure all your calipers are freely moving. As stated, sticking caliper will cause your problems.
Perhaps I should change out that caliper. I turn the rotor and in no time its warped again, same side. And power steering has same issue at same time.Never have changed pads out, same ones since I got it 60k miles ago. I always use trans fluid.
it is a cheap fix. I think a rebuilt caliper was like $55 from Advance Auto parts...I had a core charge but refunded that once I returned the old caliper...
