OK, i been looking for a project truckfor a while now to do what i want to do with my '87 and it may turn into a frame off eventualy but the looks of the condition of this truck looks like i could do bodywork and the needed motor work and have a pretty solid truck, really im just looking for some advice,i have a car im going to see if i can work up a trade for the truck. heres the link 1977 ford f-250 Lwb
and we dont get snow down here, i think it maybe as good as it looks.
anyway thanks in advanced
ok thanks for the replies but i also found a 79 4x4 but the body is trash, id rather have a 4x4 over a 2wd speacaly if i do a frame off, shold i just try to get the 79 for a steal? it has a 300 I6 with a granny 4 speed. the guy that has it is asking $600 and it runs and drives but the headlights, windows, and doors were "vandalized" with an axe. if i go look at it i will get pictures .
well it all comes down to, what you prefer...and what your going to be using it for. If dont care if its 2wd or 4wd then chose which ever one you like the best. Hope it helps, Goodluck and let us all know what you chose!!
well i hardly ever see 4x4 dents around here anymore and if i can check it out and get him to a reasonalbe price im most likely going to be getting the 4x4 if i get either of them. i guess it really depends on how bad the "vandalization" was
how much would that drivetrain be worth?
300 I6 granny 4 spd d44 front 9" rear and idk what transfer case it has and i havent seen it but its suposed to be sitting on 37's
just check all the typical rust spots, cab mounts, frame, Make sure you check for rust around the roof by the windsheild alot of times they get bad and theres no repair parts for that unless u get another cab and cut it up or swap the cab. Listen to it run and ask if u can take it for a little spin to see if the trans is shifting the way it should.
