Time commitment for removing dash etc.?
Seriously thinking of removing the dash and stripping the cab of my truck completely... many of you are familiar with my project:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...the-story.html
Just not sure what is entailed time-wise. I had originally thought I would repair my cab floor and paint the underside and firewall, leaving the dash in place and doing body work on the cab after it was installed on the chassis.
Now I wonder if a few weeks delay is worth pulling everything out of the cab and having it blasted and stripped. Maybe I'm naive and it will be months more work?
Any advice would be appreciated!

IMO I would get it sandblasted. Since you already got the motor and frame cleaned and painting. Why not..if you have the funds.

I'm making two lists, pros and cons.
Pros are:
I'll eradicate the rust wherever it lives - may never have better chance
It will save me steps in future, inevitable body work
Cost effective if done all at once
Will look as nice as the frame! Putting crappy cab on sweet chassis is hard.
Cons are:
Delay in getting her on the road
Wife wants garden truck, doesn't care about how nice (not show truck, is it? )
A lot more work this summer than expected
Need to primer right away to keep from flash rust
I'm sure there are more pros and cons yet to figure out.

I would pull it. You are already that far. Might as well do it right. Don't do something unless you are going to do it right.

IMO,
Pull the dash, Have it blasted fix the floor pan and never look back.
You will never have to regret not doing it.

Thanks, guys! I'm leaning that way. My 5 year project may become my 5 year project after all!

You might as well. You have already done so much work to the frame, engine, and tranny. It's pointless to neglect the body.

Well I have a brand new Painless Harness in a box, so the wiring is not even a hinderance! Thanks for the encouragement. Last thing I'm waiting on before decision is price from blaster co.

I will be in the same position you are here i n a few weeks. I was going to leave the cab and just deal with it but ya'll changed my mind. you already have 90% of the work done go the extra step or two and your good. you will like it better anyway

There really is no alternative. I love this board: people with my disease!
