EOT/ECT TEMP Spread when towing

So, Went camping and rented a 5k pound travel trailer to tow behind my 05 f-250. The area we went was full of hills, and the engine was working hard on some of those hills. I monitor ECT and EOT on my Scanguage. I was getting 15 to 30 degree spreads in the temps. For example, on the worst one, my coolant temp was 205 and my oil temp was 235. That was the worst one, and I checked constantly. No warning lights came on, and the truck ran excellent. Took the trailer back, and now my spread between ECT and EOT varies between 5 and 18 degrees. No coolant loss either. Should I take my truck in to the dealer? If so, what do I tell the Service writer? I have the ford ESP warranty for about another year and installed a coolant filter a couple months back. Thanks

Your ECT/EOT difference is pretty bad--15* max for extended periods, and you have 30. I'm not sure what kind of documentation you'll need, but explain to the SW (tech would be better) what you're seeing and what the spec is (TSB) and see if you can get it done. Did you flush the cooling system with VC-9 when you added your coolant filter? They may want to reflash it to turn the wrench light on when you get those big temp differences. BTW....how long of a time period were you seeing those big temp differences?

Coolant flush at 60k at the dealer. I added the coolant filter about a week later, and just added gold coolant to fill it back up to spec. Oil temps would move back down fairly quick, especially if coasting down hill or stopped at a light.

If you got those spreads right after cresting a hill on the downward side they could be normal. What was your average spread on level ground. Also, when I took my truck in, I had the spreads written down on paper, talked to the tech and gave him the paper. He used the paper for part of his justification. I was getting my spreads empty.
