Do you have a tuner installed? If not, then I would recommend the latest flash (no need to post the number). I would get other folks opinions though because this has been an issue with some controversy.
If you do have a tuner, then I decline to comment. Some people w/ tuners have complicated their problems w/ a re-flash (although they usually relate to not taking the program back to stock before the reflash).
as far as i know no tuner. i have only owned it 3 weeks. i ran a tuner on my 03 d-max but i won't on this one. would like to have the insight though just for the gauges
ok i looked at the ford sticker and it said the reflash was 3-15-06. so are i guess i should talk to a dealer about the most current reflash for my truck. is their anyplace to look at what the reflashes are supposed to fix?
well i guess i am digging up a old thread but i looked at the recall sticker tonight on my truck and wrote down the flash #. It is ford reflash #3u7a-12a650-ftg. it was done on 3/15/2006. also another question my trucks build date is 08/03 is this considered a late 2003 or early 2004 model. the engines build date is like april or june 2003.

You have the 03 motor in your truck. Cut off date is 9/29/03. I would get the latest reflash. Gives you the benefit of improved FICM tuning and all the latest PCM updates that you don't have, and there have been a few. You will need to make sure your EGR valve is in place or at least plugged in.
I don't mean to hijack but I am interested in this as well. I have an '06 that is not tuned and has never been reflashed. What are the pros & cons? I heard some of the flashes were hard on FICM's (inductive heating or something like that). Should I persue this latest flash or leave well enough alone? (i have zero problems so far). I do like the idea of the wrench light for temp. spreads and the exercising of the turbo but I think I exerecise that enough already LOL!! What do ya'll think? Thanks in advance!!!
