I am about to regear my 93 F350 from 3.55 to 4.30. The rear is a 10.25 and the front is a Dana 60. I am looking at some Yukon Gears for the rear diff that are about $250 but I can get some other no name brand for $150. Is ther that big of a difference between the two? Both are 8620 steel.
The alloy might be the same, but the manufacture proccess could be different, wich warranty does each manufacturer offer?, $250 for a part that will last as long as the truck does could be considered a bargain, i would choose the name brand before risking unnecessary damage.
Still, your choice, just check if the generic ones comply with the SAE/ISO requirements and you should be allright in any case.
sorry if i offend anyone saying this, but there are some thing that are ok to run generics, but when it comes to something that critical, then sport the extra 200 dollars ( front and rear 300 to 500 prices ) and run the one that you arent gonna worry about blowing out every time you hit the gas a little hard
I'll have to agree with the 'you get what you pay for' line on this. There are parts I'll buy cheap: filters, spark plugs, anything that I change regularly, but something like this, you want the best you can afford.
