Sluggish acceleration

The truck runs very good at speed, but if I punch it from a stop it acts like it want s to die. It has a manual fuel pump and a new filter. I was thinking about a carb rebuild kit. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated Thanks yall

What engine? Have you checked the timing and is it advancing like it's supposed to?

It has a 5 liter in it. I haven't checked the timing and with the truck only having 25000 miles it probably has never had the timing checked. I will check it out. Thanks.

Might need an accelerator pump diaphragm replacement. If the carb hasn't been rebuilt
for a while it probably would be wise to do a good rebuild on it with a Motorcraft kit.

Thanks for the sugestion. I found a holley rebuild kit for it. Do you know where I could find a motorcraft kit?

I don't know what carb you have on it. If it is a stock carb then I would look for a
Motorcraft kit. You can get them from a Ford dealer or can find them sometimes on
e-bay. If you have a Holley carb or a 4180 Motorcraft Holley then a Holley kit is just
as good.
