Hi everyone. I have a '93 F250 project truck that im repairing to go into service as my DD/tow rig. It had a small wiring fire under the hood so have a few things to fix. The truck is a 5.8l with an E40d, 4x4 with the sterling rear and ttb 50 front. Ive noticed that even though it runs and drives ok for the short distance I have driven it, the tranny fluid is burnt and dark with metal flakes in it. The plan is to flush the tranny, converter and coolers (it has 2) and refill with new fluid, filter and lucas trans medic and then drive her till the tranny falls out. In the mean time, I plan to get ready to swap in a C6. I have searched and read all I can and it seems to be a sensible swap. I dont do very much highway traveling. Use my current truck about 5-6k miles a year and rarely see O/D now as it is. Again I do alot of towing of my race car trailer so thats the primary usage.
That plan is to pick up a core C6 and rebuild it, find a junkyard donor to get driveshafts, kickdown linkage, modulator setup, crossmember and mounts etc. I know there is a size difference btween the E40d and the C6 hence the shafts and mounts. I know Ill need to remove and tape the MLPS sensor in neutral. I was wondering about changes to the column shift linkage, transfer case linkage and any other thoughts that I may not have considered.
Thanks for any help you guys can offer
