6.4 & chip & warranty - also, best place to buy used?

hello all, i'm planning on buying a 2008-2009 6.4 crew cab truck once i get a few days off. Just wondering, anyone seen any good deals floating around? I was seeing a lot of nice 2008 trucks going for 25, but now that i need one i cant seem to find any. Here in canada, lots were going for 25k, with 80-100km's on them, . Also , if i put in a spartan chip & dpf delete, if i need warranty can i just bolt the dpf back on and pull the chip? Thanks!

If your ok with commiting fraud. Doesn't really matter either way because if they suspect damage possibly caused by a tuner they will go check the pcm and confirm if the truck was tuned or not. You have to pay to play, just remember that.

Just throwing it out there FWIW...Most dealership techs aren't smart enough to pull the algorithm's and read the 1's and 0's to see if the truck has ever been reflashed or tuned. They simply pull the "version" to see if needs flashed to a newer version or not which is what they like to do when a problem stumps them.

For a fairly small drivetrain repair, non drivetrain/powertrain related repair or a known problem like a new radiator, yeah they probably wouldn't bother. When you start getting into the more expensive repairs though those techs that arn't smart enough will get smarter in a hurry.

Yeah, I'm with you guys. I don't think the ford engineers just fell off a turkey truck last night. If that baby is chipped and blows out some serious hardware I'm betting that they can find evidence of the chip. Also, that plan to return the dpf and remove the chip goes down the tubes in a hurry if you happen to be on a trip, or have a situation where you get towed to the nearest dealer. So I say "Man Up", if you Spartanize it then take responsibility for the repairs. I would guess that if the chip didn't cause the failure that you would get repaired under warranty, but if it did or they think it did then you pay for the repair. If there is a disagreement that's what lawyers are for. I surely agree that these trucks should perform better and give better economy. As the owner of a 7.3L for 7 years I can tell you that diesels can do better. But, there is no use getting mad at ford, blame the congress that has let the EPA run unabated over the rights of citizans, and the people who elect them over and over. Just my humble opinion.

You are absolutely correct!

I for one would like to see the data on getting good fuel mileage, less oil pumped out of the ground vs. clean air from our trucks.
