Power steering pump whining?
2000 7.3 auto 2wd,The power steering pump makes a noise as if its out of fluid when I hit the brakes or turn the steering wheel. Is it trying to tell me to replace it? I've had issues with this trucks brakes forever.

Have you checked the fluid levels? What type of fluid do you have in there, is it power steering fluid or ATF?
Also, does it look brown or smell burned in any way? You could try flushing your power steering pump, I bet it would make a world of difference.

If you do the flush, replace the fluid with some synthetic atf. I used mobil 1, and it made a huge difference on my dads truck. Not so much on mine. An quality inline filter can't hurt either.

when mine did that years ago, I added a little STP (honey colored stuff) and it has not whined since.

Even though I replaced my lines and there are no leaks, mine is still slightly whining...just enough get on my nerves....
