Should I buy This
It's a portion of the PCV system-note the rest of it, the smog valve inserted into a grommet in the right side valve cover, the hose connected to the valve that connected to a nipple on the carb.
He said I had a California emissions truck and pointed out the plugs in head (C6AZ6052A) where he thought some tubes at one point were connected.
He thought they went to the carb.
Not to the carb, it had nothing to do with T/E ... which had nothing to do with the PCV setup.
In 1966/67 and on some 1968's, CA required F100's (and 1966/70: Passenger Cars, Bronco's, Econolines) to have T/E = Thermactor Emission-smog pump.
On V8's, there were right & left smog pump manifolds that with nuts/ferrules on the ends, threaded into factory pre-drilled holes in the heads.
A belt driven smog pump bolted to the engine. There was one air by-pass valve, one anti backfire valve, and two check valves. One a these check valves threaded onto each smog manifold.
A gazillion rubber hoses ran from the smog pump every which way to all the valves. When you raised the hood, the engine resembled a plumbers nightmare!
Ford offered a tapered plug (C6AZ6052A) to plug off the 8 holes (4 per side) in the V8's cylinder heads.
btw: 1966 only had a mini round aircleaner with a long snout on it, inside was a foam filter. This was used in conjunction with the smog pump.
Illustrations of all the smog pump crap can be found in the 1964/72 Ford Truck Parts Catalog, Section 94.1, pages 1 thru 12. Happy viewing!
