I thought I heard that Gibson or Roush Makes an exhaust tip that would give the stock exhaust just a touch more growl. Is that true? If so how can I find them? I LOVE the stock growl my '10 came with. Ford did a great job with the right tone and sounds (not too loud but growly if you get on it). i just want it a touch louder with dual pipes coming out the back. Don't want to spend a wad getting the whole system redone (although Gibson makes a GREAT exhaust kit). Any help?
An exhaust tip is a $10-$20 piece of metal that attaches to the end of your existing exhaust to dress the vehicle up a bit. I seriously doubt it makes a bit of difference in the sound.
Actually a tip does change the pitch a little bit. It won't really make it louder, but a larger tip will sound deeper because it creates some resonance.
That being said, I would think it would only sound different at idle.
I was looking around and saw some manufactures are offering black stainless or black chrome tips that would look nice on our trucks but some reviews were saying durability of finish is not that great so I am going to keep looking.

Are you talking about a cat-back exhaust system?
I am well aware of the difference between an exhaust tip and a cat back exhaust system.
With that being said, I spoke with a Waldoch rep who stated they install gibson exhausts on the f-150's for Ford. He said the nice deep but noticable tone at ideal is the tips....that is what I am looking for. I like the sound of the stock when rail on it. I just want a little more tone at idle.
It has to be a large tip though I think. We did a test on my dad's truck (Titan 5.6 with Banks 3" monster exhaust). We tried it with the tip on and with it off. Not sure how it is on the road, but at idle there was definitely a difference.
