i have been noticing that i have been having to crank the truck longer than normal when the oil is hot (longer than a cold start) also if running my truck in stock tuning it runs honorably, it will stumble and miss from around 2k-2.6k and blow out oil smoke.
after coasting downhill at high rpm when i first get back into the throttle sometimes it will hiccup and blow out a puff of smoke.
if i go to tow safe or higher tunings the truck runs 200% better other than the long crank on hot start and the occasional puff of white oil smoke after long de-cel. also towing a 20k trailer for 1700 miles in stock setting i was going threw about a quart of oil every 500 miles did an oil change then towed about 12k in tow-safe for 700 miles and used no oil.
I recently did injector o-rings and the hard hot starts iv been noticing makes me think that the ipr could be to blame, but i don't know if it could also be the cause of my other problems, the fact that increasing the tuning makes the issues almost go away makes me think it could be the ipr as well.
(edit) in referring to the tuning im running a super chips 1705)
Idle issues can show up when it gets warm is also a sign of IPR O-rings going bad. The oil is thinner when hot, and can pass through the O-rings. My truck would occasionally stall when coming to a stop. I had that issue and replaced the IPR and problem was solved.
i do sometimes have a loping idle when pulling off the interstate while pulling a trailer. i didn't notice that with the motorcraft oil i just put in but i was pulling about half the weight.
no cel and last i checked no codes ill check again to see if any might have come up.
also i suppose its possible i nicked an o-ring installing them. i was pretty careful when installing them but i did not use a torque wrench on the hold downs. i didn't have an inch pound torque wrench, is there a way to test the o-rings without removing the injectors?
