2 year project
Do to lifes events i've had to sell my 2006 F250 6.0 Truck. I had to sell it for $22K when i should have been able to get at least $25K or better for it, but i'm just thankful i could pay off the loan and come out a few bucks ahead.
Now i'm in a position that i wont be able to drive for 2 years. So what i want to do is keep an eye out and get into "the perfect truck"!!! What is that you ask? Right now i'm thinking about getting into a 1995-1997 F350 4DR, LB, 7.3L Truck. I want to find one that has been taken care of by some one who knows how to take care of a truck. Probibly only one owner, VERY Low miles (as low as possible anyway), no body issues, no engine problems. A lift 2 to 4 inches, no more then 6 might be ok, would love a matching Shell, spray in bed liner is a plus, Rims and Tires are nogishable, Paint job i would be pretty relaxed about as long as its not "flashy", or in poor condition.
The interior, i would be ok stock to mostly stock. I'm 35ish and I dont need my wife to hear me coming home, 10 miles before i get there, so a good sounding stereo would be great. maybe with ipod and usb hook ups. Navigation, and rear view i would love to have, but will probibly have to put that in after i get it.
I'm in the navy for now, but becuase i have reciently been confronted with a disease that i'm now dealing with, i will be leaving the Navy over the next few month. My wife and I, both loved my last Ford and both dearly want to get back into another one down the road and when we can afford to buy another one.
I dont think i'm looking beyond what i want. i have found one that was perfect, but the dealership wanted $18K for it, and i have to wait a few years to make this new dream come true. Needless to say, it will be a slow process to work towards. i hope and pray that it might even be someone on here that is wanting to sell that "Perfect Truck", and i will be ready to take it off their hands.
Any advise on this, I look forward to reading about. Thanks and Thanks for a great web site.
J.
Secondly I think you have the right idea in a truck. I had a 99 Super Duty PSD that I was tired of making payments on, so I sold it and bought my 96 outright this spring... best thing I've done in a long time! Just so you know, these OBS (old body style) trucks seem to be bringing premium prices for the most part right now, especially the clean/low mileage rigs. I bought my 96 from the original owner, 147k miles, pretty much box stock except for nice wheels and a few other doo-dads in April. I paid $6200 and that was a steal. Similar trucks closer to home were selling in the $9k price range.
I'm getting out of the Marine Corps in the next few months because of health problems. I hope that your recovery goes well.
