IDI for life

This is very common but Id like to know as much as possible, pro's, con's, your opinion

I have the banks side winder kit now, is it possible to find better head studs and head gaskets to maybe put a better turbo on and even intercool it ?

like I said Id like to here everyones opinion on weak spots, what ifs, and anything about it !

Got a little more details? What year? 6.9 or 7.3?

You can easily get ARP head studs for the 6.9L engines. Head studs for the 7.3's are a little more of a process. 7.3 rocker arms are a good upgrade for the 6.9's. You can intercool it but you'll be on your own for the plumbing setup to do it.

intercooler is best if you can find it from a JY. I think oreo got his that way. They are a dime and a half new so fyi. If it has a banks, there may be head studs already, look before you buy! Biggest weakspot is going to be cavitation, how was it kept, SCA's in the coolant? Give a history, itll help everyone diagnose it better,

okay guys heres all the info i know,

truck is a 1990 7.3l

engine has 90xxx miles on it

no fith wheels and hitch has no huge dents or bend so maybe she was to abused

all filters are upto date, im gonna change the oil though tonight to see if anythings in it.

this might not matter but its automatic

Im not sure how much the fuels turned up,

she fires right up no wierd sounds or anything,

temp runs normal oil pressure good,

if you guys need to know more just ask i dont know all what will help, also what is cavitation ? sca's ?

how would i tell if it does already have studs ?

bare with me Id like to learn as much as possible from everyone

To tell if it has studs look at the head bolts along the bottom of the heads. If they have nuts on them instead of bolt heads it has studs in it, if not then its still standard head bolts.
