I just had my tranny rebuilt and driving it it 2 days later it started shifting funny and dying when i would turn a corner or shifting. I ran codes and at Key on engine off i got a code 89. Is there a fix for this? or am i looking at another rebuild? it was rebuilt about 3-4 years ago. i know the a4ld's are junk but i dont wanna put a standard tranny in it..
KOEO 89 points to an electric fault in the torque converter lockup clutch solenoid circuit. I'm not sure that I would expect this code to be related to it "shifting funny" and really have a hard time picturing how this contributes to it "dying when you would turn a corner."
The TCC solenoid circuit is a pretty basic DC circuit. It shouldn't be too difficult to track down the problem that is causing the KOEO 89 (who knows, maybe it never got plugged back in when the rebuild tranny was installed). You can then see if that resolves the issue or go on to something else.
Sure enough!!!! It WAS unplugged!!!! I havent had a chance to test drive it.. but what happens when it get unplugged and driven? since none of my symptoms had nothing to do with it??
