backfiring

I have an 88' bronco II 2.9 fuel injected had run like a dream since I bought it. Now all of a sudden I am having an issue with back firing some days it will start acting up mid trip will start to lose power when I get into the gas it will back fire run a little rough for a mile or so then level out becoming more frequent please help!

My wife's old B2 would do that and kept getting worse. Wound up being the EGR.
