Looking to buy a bed on for 1949 F3 one ton long bed. (fendors not needed.
Also willl consider buying a stake pocket bed.

If I install a stake pocket bed(flat bed) then I will have 2 very good fendors for sale.

Bruce welcome to the board, nice to see another '49 F-2 owner. Sounds like you're restoring it back to stock, that's also nice to hear.

There is no one, as far as anyone on the boards knows, that make a reproduction 8' Express box. Dan Carpenter Specialties used to make a box very close but discontinued making them many years ago.

As for a stock Ford script flatbed, Northern Classic Trucks also used to make them for all size Ford trucks but also discontinued them quite some time ago.

The only option you have is keep an eye on eBay or Craigslist.

Bruce,

One note, if you do find a stock flatbed and want to keep truck stock, you'll have to find a set of shorty running boards. You can use ones off any Ford truck up to F-6. You will also have to modify your frame brackets because the shorty board brackets are a bit longer and have a different bolt pattern. You'll also have to remove the rear most bracket on each side.

I have a good set of stubby running boards with the correct brackets if you want them.

scroll down to post number 16 by me and click the link. I think the truck is in Idaho.

Where are you located at? I know where a nice 8' Express bed is (it's a trailer) not to far from me, I have asked if its for sale a couple different times, still same answer though

TO: JMadson
I live in Las Vegas, NV and have a trailer that can tow an 8 foot bed. So I can travel to another state and pick up either a regular bed or a stake bed. I would not travel more than 700 miles. So I need a western USA location.

Thanks for the help.

testing/ learning how others get my questions.
I asked 2 questions and got zero answers.
So I will answer my own question and see if it shows up in my e-mail.

gotta love 49s

hey bud did you ever find a bed for that 49 f3? I've owned a 49 f3 since 85 and she's the love of my life. I need a stake bed pocket from an original 8' bed. The other 3 are perfect but 1 rusted out pretty bad. As you already know the aftermarket one's for sale aren't the same as the f3 pockets.

So I have an 8 ft box that I may be parting with if I can get a decent 6 1/2 ft bed. Also, does anyone know if the F3 rear fenders are hugely different from F1 rear fenders?

Yes, the F2-F3 rear fenders (and front) are different than the F1. If you're getting an F1 bed, you'll need the fenders to go along with it. F2-F3 rear fenders have a large notch cut out of them to accomodate for the wider bed. The wheel opening radius is also larger on F2-F3 front and rear fenders than on F1 fenders.
