1948 flathead vs. 1948 flathead

I've been told that the 8cyl flathead in the 1948 F1 & F2 , is different that the flathead for 1949 & up.
Is this true??

1948 Ford Passenger Car 239 flathead: Distributor located at the front of the engine between the water pumps. It's a PITA to work on!

1948 truck 239 V8 (pictured) and 1949 Ford Passenger Car 239 V8 uses a totally different type of distributor, that's EZ to work on.

There are a few credible instances of very early '48 trucks coming out of the factory with the 59AB engines (used in cars in '48). But generally, 48 - 52 trucks all used the same engine. '53 also used the same block but was trimmed out differently.

I'm a bit late to this thread, but the 239 V8 Truck engine pictured is a 1953 model.

Good catch - waterpumps without the foot and the bell housing rear mounts are distinctive.
