another dumb ??
My motor should be back in a few days so I went to buy a battery for my truck. Advanced said they didnt have one for my truck??? What kind of battey do I need and why dont they have it? Thanks for the help!

Don't be surprised that the counter person helping you doesn't recognize 24F by itself. Most of the time they will have another # attached to it like 96-24F or something similar. But you can also check to see if another battery they have fits in the same space, 10-1/4 L x 6-7/8 W x 8-3/4 H.

A good example how our parts counter wantabe's are computer imbedded!
Maybe if you told them you Slick was green or something like that; it would have help them search for a compatible battery!
I personally like finding Champion Batteries for my old trucks; kind of give it a nostalgia look1

Mitch you have no idea how many customers eyes light up when I grab paper catalogs to double check the application/interchange information or look for hard to find parts. Our computer system doesn't even list it if someone hasn't order it in the past or if it is a seldom used part. I am diggin the latest "Disco Hardware" catalog I found the other day. It has some of the side trim clips listed in it for our slicks. Granted it isn't 100% proven yet but they are called out as Ford but no # is attached. You can download the catalog online to see what I mean.

R24F: 6 13/16" wide / 10 3/4" long / 8 61/64" wide / 55 amps.
R29F: 5 1/2" wide / 13" long / 9 3/32" wide / 66 amps.
R29F also used in 1960/64 Galaxies / R24F in 1960/70's Falcon/Fairlane/Torino/Mustang/Cougar/Maverick/Comet.
Make SURE the battery terminals on the battery you buy are in the same location as yours.
GM/ChryCo also used group 24 and 29 batteries, but the terminals are reversed! These batteries have a G suffix (24G/29G).
Mark: Battery specs listed in TEXT, Section 106, page 2, basic numbers: 10653-5
The original batteries are tar tops, have 6 individual round red caps and are marked either AUTOLITE or STAY-FUL
These batteries have been reproduced, I've seen ads for them in Hemmings Motor News.
