Replacing all injectors

Hello, I have a friend that wants me to replace his inj. He has a 1990 f-550 7.3. He changes his oil every 4k but the truck is treated poorly. It is used for logging and everyone drives it. So maintenance is good but abused.

Do you guys have any links or pdf, something that will help me with the inj change?

Or any other advice for this truck?

Thank you

you just need to take off the injector line clamps, remove the injector line nuts from the top of the injector, pull the caps with return lines(all will need to be replaced more then likely, at bare minimum the orings), shop vac each injector area to clean crap out, use a 1" deep socket to remove the injectors, ensuring the copper washer comes out with each one, shop vac each hole to remove gunk again, and replace. some use antisieze, i would recommend it. i dont remember the torque specs so someone else will chime in i am sure. It is the simplest change once you know what you are doing.

Well, he's going to be best off by replacing the Injector Pump at the same time as the injectors. You can get the whole bundle (IP, Injectors, and installtion kit) for around 400 bucks from Pensacola Diesel. The big tip is don't bend the hard lines too much or else you can crack the coating inside of the lines and then that coating can come loose and ruin your new injectors.

Ok. thats good, be sure to get the installation kit for the injectors that has new copper o rings, fuel return caps and o-rings, and new return lines. 75% of all problems with an IDI are with the fuel return system

If you buy the injectors from a reputable buisness they will come with the orings and copper washers installed but when you buy the install kit, cheapest way to get all the return Ts, it will come with thouse as well.

Oh and make sure you take either an injector bore brush or 3/4 pipe brush to the injector bores to get all the carbom out.
