New Guy Needs some help please!?

Hi,
I just bought an early model 2003 F350 with a blown 6.0 motor. I also have found a good running wrecked late built 2004 Ford F250. I keep getting conflicting opionions. Can I put the 2004 6.0 in my early 2003? If so what will I have to change around to make it work. I have everything from the 2004 if I get it so I should be able to do this right? Help! Thanks in advance!

Welcome to FTE.

I read about it being done. One of the issues encountered was with the electrical system (wiring harnesses IIRC). Can't recall if there was anything else.

At least this will be a quick "bump" for you.

It has been done. Look for posts by Slavik and Matty. Matty helped Slavik out quite a bit with info and advice. Time frame was last February or so. I put an 06 in my 04

Regards

I am not sure it was as much good memory as it was that I was putting my 06 engine into my 04 truck at the same time. Matty helped both of us

That should be a fairly easy swap--almost plug and play, especially having the all the harnesses at hand.

I was remiss in not providing Cheezit's quote. He told me that back then as well. I reworked a 2006 van engine to put in my pickup. Thus Moes advice.

Sandman,

You have that reversed. The 03 has the round cooler, the 04 has the square cooler. I would say that the square cooler works quite well when combined with a coolant filter and properly managed coolant maintenance. It does not like to be starved for coolant
