You would be able to regain some power by switching to the smallest possible wheel that will still fits the brakes and go with the lowest profile tire you can get to raise your end gearing.
Of course with low pro tires there is a whole other world of issues.
Ford engineers do a lot of work trying to get the best ratios between transmission and universal. IMO, one who lives in the hills or tows should have a 3.73. People looking for max gas mileage might consider a 3.5 or 3.35 but have to understand the truck will be chasing gears as one goes to lower numbers. As mentioned above, can't imagine what a 2.75 would be like.
