Can you run a 12V or 24V Cummins turbo (not sure they're different) on these IDI's? I saw a complete Cummins turbo setup for $300 on CL the other day.
the down pipe itself isnt the issue, its the 5 bolt manifold that bolts to the back of the turbo that turns down for the downpipe to bolt to. that restricts the exhaust to 2.25" and nothing you can do to make one. you could try out of some thick flat stock but i wouldnt dare. thats a lot of heat coming out of that turbo. better to leave it to cast pieces. ats is taking forever because the company supplying them with theirs quit making them so ats is trying to do it themself. they made 1 batch but the tooling was off and they didnt work sooooooooo.......... they are trying again.

Remember the Strokes and Cummins engines are running stock compression ratios in the 17 or 18 to 1 range.
So they can take more boost than an IDI can even think about.

Slap that turbo on an IDI running 21.5 or 22.5 to 1 and you start getting extreme cylinder pressures.

Head studs will keep you rather reliable up to about 20 PSI on an IDI engine.
If you want to go higher, mill the pistons and run head studs.
i plan on running a bov so if it goes over 13psi it will just escape the system, maybe recycle to the intake tube or something. and milling the pistons and head studs are going for my 6.9. i just want this 7.3l to get some decent boost til my other baby is done. hoping to hold on to this one for 6-8 months. the rebuild is going to take a long time

You really don't want these...even as twins I don't think they would work very well, and twins are never as efficient as a good single turbo.

They were T3's but they were very small T3's.

Also, the Volvo T3's have a Stage I exhaust wheel...the factory turbo trucks have a Stage III which flows a lot more. A Stage I would be a restriction.
