Cruise Control Actuator

I'm in need of some assistance. I went to remove my throttle body for some cleaning time, and ending up in a great display of idiocy. When I cleaned the throttle body in my Taurus, I didn't remove the cruise control, it was easier since it's a heck of a lot lower, could let it dangle while cleaning the TB. Not so much on the X. I attempted to remove the cruise control actuator (I'm guess that's what it is) and well....it snapped, as in broke, as in it ain't right no more. It looks like a small grey plastic piece that attaches to the cable. Can I simply buy this piece and put the new one on there and be good to go? Please? Tell me it's that simple, and that I don't have to replace the entire cable and such. I'm bummed. I drove the X back around to the front, and it drives fine, not going to attempt cruise control. Will it be fine driving it like that? Surely it would be since it only effects the cruise control..I think. Here's a pic from an F150 I found, it's the part labeled "giving grief since 1997" or something to that effect. Sorry for the long winded post, I hate screwing crap up, but I do it enough to learn I guess. Also, how the heck do you remove that thing without breaking it?
