I have a Sioux 270 that has always worked great for me, then today I went to use it and it would just blow air out when I would pull the trigger and nothing would happen.
I took it apart and cleaned and oiled everything inside and now it tries to hammer but doesn't have enough power to do anything.
I am thinking I should order a new piston and sleeve but not sure?
I would like to fix this instead of buying a new one as they are around $300!
What kind of a tool do you have exactly? The term air hammer is kind of generic and can mean either a chipping hammer ar an impact wrench.
If you are talking about a chipping hammer then I would look at the valve mechanism. If you are talking about an impact wrench then I would look at the motor mechanism for stuck vanes or binding.
Sioux 270 is a medium barrel air chisel.
Most have some sort of force adjusting ****, make sure this is at maximum, and also that the air inlet screen is clear. Many types of air tool oils can leave a waxy buildup on that screen.
All of a sudden it just started working again, so who knows how long it will last but I was just happy it lasted long enough to cut the heads off the last frame rivets on my truck!
The tool has an automatic valve that floats in between two valve seats. The change in air pressure at the end of each stroke operastes the valve. After using the tool for a number of years this valve disc becomes magnatized and is then prone to sticking once in awhile. Maybe this is what happened.
Or maybe it just processed a piece of debris. A piece of the rubber hose or pipe scale. It has probably gone out the exhaust.
