Well I spent most of yesterday walking around a wrecking yard looking for a bench seat that would fit in the cab, and it has to be black ,that's not too much to ask Anyhow I ended up pulling the bucket seats out of a Toyota ($35ea) and they're black, sat them in the cab roughly last night......man that cab is full ! Going back to the wrecking yard for a couple of black inertia seat belts ($11ea) today.
Cheers, Steve.
Sounds good, good luck on adapting the setup to your truck, IIRC, the bench seat from the Chevy Colorado, GMC Canyon, Isuzu I-370 is nearly exactly the right width for our trucks. I had an '07 GMC and when I measured the seat, it was super close.
I was hoping to use the buckets from the T-bird I'm using for parts. Don't know, though. The cab width at the front of the seats is pretty narrow. For bench seats, I was considering the middle bench seat from a '99-ish Chrysler minivan.
Hello everyone, my thinking was, what the hell...can always change to a bench down the track, gotta keep moving forward. At the moment I'm thinking of a way to house the inertia seatbelt set up in the door pillar.
Cheers, Steve.
Is that a shoulder belt? This was discussed somewhere awhile back... The cab on thisse old trucks wasn't designed to support the seat belt in a crash the way a new vehicle is. The B-pillar on these old trucks is actually pretty weak. IMHO, the safest thing to do is to build a support that bolts to the frame through the cab mounts and bolt the seat belt and its guides to that, or to use a seat with integral belts. Next best thing would be to use a lap belt only.
Yes you are right Dave, the 'B' pillars and floor will require reinforcing, when I get something tacked together I'll post a few pics.
Will be using over the shoulder belt, I'm sure I can make it work. I'm not too keen on lap belts as nothing stops your upper body throwing forward and knocking teeth out on the steering wheel .How are you going with your project ?
Cheers, Steve
Cool. Just wanted to make sure. So many people expect way more than the sheetmetal can provide. My truck has sat stagnant for the past couple of weeks. I put in 44 hours of overtime last week at work, so not much time left for fun. I'm hoping to do a little bit this coming week. I've not heard back from the guy who runs the show in Ottawa on whether I'll be able to put it in the show not moving under its own power, so I guess I'll assume no. A little disappointed there.
