all you have to do is use what ever search engine you like and look up "best oil filters".
That's not the way it works in the real world. If you're presenting an argument, then it's up to you to provide the data to back it up. Just like it's up to BG to provide data to back up his argument. You can't throw your point out there and expect the person you're debating to do your homework for you and argue against themselves.
I am providing data alloro, its just so much Im leaving it up to whoever wants to reads it themselves. I do hope people as in yourself can type in your search tab, its so easy a cave man could do it, so are you now saying you have a problem looking things up( to all of you)
I DID a search. I POSTED the link. The results are not what you claim. I found a few other "tests" though I can not find any sort of flow or filtrations tests. I have found where people have cut open filters and Wix brand always makes the cut as a reccomended filter. Reasons for this include metal end caps on the filter cartridge, coil spring for the pressure relief valve, and overall quality construction. You posted that a Fram would be better. Anybody who does go and look will find those filters do not use metal end caps, coil springs or quality components. This back peddle to try and associate yourself with Purolator being better than Wix is interesting but doesn't address your original case of verbal vomit.
The funny part is that I use the Motorcraft filter, made by Purolator, in my truck.
Hodges, when you grow up buddy, not only will you find out that what alloro says is true but, you may also find life easier if you admit mistakes rather than trying to cover them up. We all say dumb things from time to time. Continuing to dig the hole deeper and deeper while trying to deflect your shortcomings to others absolutley destroys your credibility. Good Luck with whichever path you choose.
I never made a statement saying just fram was better than wix by their main brand. I was just making a point that the filter element is sold from the same company.
So what you are expecting us to believe is that "overall" the parts are better at Autozone than Napa by using the following example.
Because the filter media inside a wix filter comes from the same place as the media in a Fram filter, the Wix filter is no better than the Fram and therefore one Autozones products are better than Napa's.
Or possibly that the media inside a Fram filter is better than the media inside the Wix filter and therefore the Fram is better and so are Autozones parts because of it.
By the way, I installed my new Dana/Spicer ball joints today. The pretty blue dust covers match my new Bilstien shocks very nicely.
So I am a freak because I want to put quality parts on my vehicle?
Tell me O wise one, do the parts cost less at Autozone because they are just smarter than the other retailers? Or might it have something to do with the quality of parts they sell?
You have chosen not to answer to your comment regarding Fram being a better filter than Wix?
Can we assume then that you are some kind of Autozone zombie then?
Don't want to get in the middle of you guys little tif. From my personal experience there is nothing wrong with Fram. I have always used them and I have had 7 cars with over 300K miles. The current 3 cars I have all are close to 175K and have no oil related issues or leaks. I like Fram and synthetic oils.
Less expensive doesn't always mean poor quality. When I worked in a CD manufacturing plant we printed the full price CDs along side of the ones going to Columbia house. They were the same quality. It only cost about $.40 for a finished CD at the time, so the difference was all profit for someone.

I'm so glad you're happy with your Duralast equivalent ball joints at twice the price, simply because they look nice with the blue dust covers and match your shocks.

Thats not true. When i need parts, i do price shopping and Spicer was always cheaper than Duralast. If Duralast was cheaper than Spicer, i would have saved myself some time and walked to Autozone and picked them up.
After this thread I read a couple of articles/studies regarding oil filters. Guess I will not be buying Fram filters any longer. I hate that I just changed the oil in all of my cars.
