I tried the big block engines forum. Nobody responded. I have a 93 E350 cutaway (ex Ryder truck) with the 7.5. Truck had been sitting, and I was told by PO all it needed was a fuel pump to run. Got a used (39k) fuel pump/filter, battery, changed the gas, checked the spark plugs. I got the van to run and it runs great, when it will start. The other day I went outside and it fired right up. Ran for a good minute, then just like that it was as though someone cut the power to it and it just stalls. Waited a few hours, started it up and it ran like a champ for a solid 10 minutes. Turned it off, then tried to turn it back on. NOTHING. Checked for spark, wasn't getting any so we tested the coil and its good. Also couldn't hear the fuel pump priming like I could before, so something tells me that it is not detecting the key being turned. Replaced the fuel pump relay today. Also checked the relay fuse in the engine compartment fuse panel and it is getting power.
Here are a few pics of some connectors that I found disconnected, no idea where they go. If anyone has any insight I would appreciate it.
This rectangular connector is hanging down in the drivers side footwell.
This picture is of a random green wire, a square gray connector (think it is for the brake switch but not sure, tail lights dont light up) and a 3-hole yellow connector, pretty random.
Here we have two connectors right above the battery. One rectangular one, one round. A couple of the wires on the rectangular connector are cut. Here's a close up:
As you can see, there are supposed to be 7 wires but only 4 are connected? I HATE WHEN PEOPLE DISCONNECT/ CUT RANDOM THINGS!
This is very frustrating and I am ready to scrap this pile of junk. Now obviously the misc. connectors and wires shouldn't have too much to do with the truck not running, as I had it running fine a few times. If anyone has any suggestions or knows wtf these wires are, I'm all ears. Thanks!!
