Well guys i bought this 2001 f-250 about 2 weeks ago. It has 73000 miles on it and it is an auto. Well before i bought it my buddy noticed a leak near the valve cover well i told the owner and he took it to a shop. Once at the shop the the told the previous owner the the head gaskets were bad. The truck was still under warrenty and Ford recommended that they change the all of the electrical that goes inside the valve covers. I have the invoice of all the work done to it. So they replace the valve cover gaskets and the valve covers all with all the wiring for the glow plugs. The total amount was $850. Well i wnet and picked it up and drove the truck home 190 miles with no problems. I put about 600 miles on since i got it and it ran just fine. On Thursday i noticed that there was a little leak under the truck. I went under and saw that i was leaking where the tranny and the motor meet. I thought i was tranny fluid so i took it to my buddy that does trannies. On the way to my buddies house i got on it pretty hard and when i go there the truck had a huge leak and i could see the trail of oil on the street. My buddy looked at and told me that i was motor oil and that i was low on oil about 2 quarts. He says i didnt hurt the motor but do you guys think that all of this oil could be coming for the valve covers gaskets? Please help i dont know what to do here. The work that was done on it was not even a month ago.
The first thing you need to do is to find where it is leaking from. I don't think it is the VC gasket. Climb on top of the engine with a flashlight and look between the valve covers, all the way to the bottom for oil that is pooled in there. You might need to clean the oil out then start the engine and look for the leak. Look under the turbo and also look towards the front of the engine for leaks. Let us know what you find.
There's a very good chance that all that stuff the dealer did never fixed your oil leak. The valve cover gaskets on these trucks rarely leak. You more than likely have an o-ring that is leaking. Like Rick said, crawl up on top of the motor with a flashlight and look on top of the motor. It's probably full of oil right now. Use some simple green and a garden hose to clean it up, then start the truck and see if you can pinpoint the leak.
The common leak points are at the HPOP in front, the HPO lines in the middle, or under the turbo near the back. Once you pinpoint the leak, we'll help you fix it. A few dollars in o-rings and a little time under the hood and you'll have it fixed.
My buddy did tell me that he tought that it was coming from bhind the motor near the turbo. At first he tought it was the oil pump. What is the HOP and HPOP?
Alright guys i just got off the phone with my buddy and he is pretty sure that the leak is coming for the HPOP. He said his truck had the same leak a few years ago. I guees all that is left is HOW DO I FIX IT? Is there anything out there like a manuel or something?
Sounds like HP oil leak to me.... You need to find out where it's coming from, then we can tell you how to fix it. Could be very easy, or you might have to pull the HPOP (like I had to ). Start it and look around for the leak like Rick said...
Alright guys i found the leak and it is coming from right under the fuel bowl. How much do you guys think that a stealership will charge me for fixing this leak? Also is it really that hard to fix? Is there any write up with pictures and what not? I need to fix this ASAP. Thanks for all the help.

If that sounds like too much money, then maybe you just need to figure out which fitting on the HPOP is actually leaking and spend the $3 or $4 for the proper O-ring and just fix it yourself. Replacement O-rings for Ford Diesel Engines
It's really not that hard. We just need to know if it's leaking from the rear plug, the "non-removable" plug, or the hose fittings and we can walk you through how to fix it yourself.
Well guys i got it fixed. It was the rear plug that was leaking. Took my buddy 20minutes to do. Ford wanted $800 for the job what a joke. Thanks for all of the help.
