Autozone ( AutoZone.com | Get In The Zone! ) has complete engine gasket sets for the 223 for $43.99. They have to be ordered but that price is unbeatable for new gaskets. The part number is FS7994PT-4.
Unfortunately, they apparently caught it - as of 10/13/2012 the price has gone up (for my zip code) to $69.99. Still not bad, but not the screaming good deal they were before.
My info says YES the gasket kit (FS7994PT4) is the same for the 215, 223 & 262. I did not check for car VS truck engine.
Just did a quick check - Rockauto seems to be the better choice now at $55.99.
They also saved me a ton of money on motor mounts and tune-up parts. Trans mounts are currently $5.43 for the uppers (TAAA-6068-A) and $1.31 for the lowers (COTT-6061-B). Compare to $15 and $10 at Midwest Early Ford; $15 and $6 at Midfifty; $11.95 and $6.95 at LMC; $8.95 and $3.95 at Macs.
When price shopping it is important to also consider shipping cost and the price and availability of other needed parts. Not all of the companies I checked offered the metal sleeve or bolt for the tranny mount. I have found that it is sometimes cheaper to pay more an individual part when the total order is a better deal. With shipping costs today a large order from one vendor can be cheaper than a bunch of small orders from the vendors with the absolute lowest price on each part.
When I started ordering all the parts I needed for my truck, I made up a spreadsheet with all the parts down the side and the vendors across the top. But I did a complete overhaul of my drivetrain - engine / trans /transfer case / u-joints / both axles and the brakes. I saved money AND made the wife happy that I wasn't just throwing money at it (like a friend did with his truck).
Sorry for the
Jim

Truer words have never been spoken. In my case, I decided to pull the engine and trans back out because the motor and trans mounts were just too cracked/weathered for me. My local parts guy got me a set for 17.76 for all four, upper and lower including Wa. state sales tax. I have to wait 2 weeks for the upper trans mounts, but that's just because I'm cheap. He could have them tomorrow if I wanted to pay shipping.
He deserves my business because he's one who really knows his fecal matter.
