Disc Brake backing plates/dust shields

I am in the process of rebuilding a D44 out of a '79 F250 and was having trouble finding dust shields since one of mine is rotted and the other is just completely gone. I searched on here and no one, in any of the threads I read had found them. Then I found these universal dust shields from Mr. Gasket:

Search: 6905 | Wheel Dust Shield | AutoZone.com

Anyone used these? They come in 14, 15 and 16" sizes. I may try them out!

You do know those mount between the rotor/hub and the wheel, right? They're intended to reduce the amount of brake dust getting on the wheels.

The OEM shields are mounted inboard to keep dirt, rocks, etc. off the rotor.

i am wondering what is the difference between the F150 $x$ and Bronco? beside the price difference?

Depending on what the truck is - I have them for a LOT less than LMC... I have a few types off 2wd setups. While mine aren't "perfect" they'll work for most and have only light surface rust (California's version of light!).

Hio, I'm not sure what you're talking about with the mounting, but maybe I'll get it once I take it apart. I did look in LMC, but as you noticed, they don't list it specifically for the 4wd F250. LMC may be pricey, but I've learned that they're usually dead on with what will fit what. I'll be picking through the junkyard soon enough to find some gears anyway, I'll have to see if I can find out what the difference is and if I can get something else to work. Chase, thanks for the offer, but I'd hate to bother without knowing if they'd really fit. Nevermind Hio, I got it.

I guess I should have read the 1st post better and noticed the D44 thing. Mine won;t fit. I already sold the ones I had that did. From what the guy who bought mine said they aren't reproduced & he couldn't find them anywhere.

LOL! ..Funny "edit" post!

My co-worker recently asked me what could cause a light grinding noise coming from her Honda's drivetrain. I immediately thought her wheel bearings or CV joints were kaput. I've had the experience before where a small grinding noise eventually turned into a loud growl. Well, she took her car to the shop and the tech found and removed a small pebble with a finely ground finish lodged between the caliper and rotor... no the shop didn't charge her.

The rotor shields can be deleted but I think it's a good idea to run 'em if it's a DD.

@chasetruck754, I'm looking for a set of 2wd front disc brake backing plates. I have a 1966 f-100 that we are doing a disc conversion on and I can get all the parts for this from CPP but they don't knclude the backing plates and all the salvage yards in my area, even around the surrounding counties dont' have anything that old. I'm in Missouri, KC area. Do you have a set that would work? If so How much for them + shipping?

What you are asking for are the dust shields for the front disc brake rotors, since disc brakes do not have backing plates. These fit between the spindle and the rotor.

There are THREE different types of these shields.
