1990 ranger v6 surging while driving?
not my truck but trying to help out a buddy, he came to my house saying there was a problem with his truck and told me to take it down the road, long story short at part throttle especially in 3rd and 4th gears it seams it feels like its cutting off and surging back under acceleration almost like its not getting spark for a sec then returning to normal. we've checked all the wires everything appears good. he just spent 600 bucks taking it to a "mechanic" who is a friend of his dad i dont know exactly what he did i think he replaced the spark plugs and wires, as well as the thermostat and the filler neck leaked and he smogged it. but ever since he got it back its doing that weird serging. where should we start to look? i think maybe the coil? ive examined the wires to it closely. what goes out on these on the ignition system cuz it feels its spark related.
