2010 SD LED lights

I've been considering replacing ALL my turn/brake/park/backup lights with LED's - for no other reason than I like the looks of them. Replacing the individual bulbs for everything I want to replace with Putco Premium Lighting LED's would cost about half of what just buying the LED taillight assembly (such as RECON) would cost. I read in another thread that the 2008's don't have flashers, so I am assuming the 2010's are the same. Has anyone with a 2008 - 2010 replaced their bulbs with LED's? Does the computer controlled flasher have to be reprogrammed to prevent hyper flashing? Do the replacement bulbs sold nowadays provide the proper illumination required for a turn/brake light? Any thoughts and comments will be appreciated.

LED Update

Just thought I'd update my "problem". I have tried 2 different types of LED bulbs - one being a "parts store" brand and the other being a "premium LED lighting" type bought online. Neither one were bright enough to use, in my opinion, in a brake/turn signal situation. I have on order a set of 3157 Putco Nova bulbs that are advertised to be 3 times brighter than a regular bulb. At $61 a pair, they better be. I just made sure I bought them from a site that offers "No hassle returns" in case I'm not satisfied with the brightness of them.

Also, the 2008 and up models do not have turn signal flashers as I had read elsewhere. The turn signals are controlled by the computer and according to my local Ford service manager there is no way to reprogram it to run LEDs to prevent the hyper flashing you get when installing LED bulbs. You have to install load resistors on every turn signal light you have LEDs installed in to prevent the hyper flashing. The only way to avoid this is to replace the whole assembly with a LED aftermarket unit that has built in resistors (such as from RECON, Anzo, Alteeza, etc.) but in my opinion the cost is not worth it.

Just splice an incandecent bulb assembly into your wiring harness to provide the proper load for the turn signals. You can buy the commercial type 4" round assemblies for less than $20 at most A/P stores.

Truck-Lite - Catalog Product : Economy 40 Stop/Turn/Tail & Front/Park/Turn 4'' Sealed

I was in a similar situation when I replace all of my service body lamps with LEDs. The new assemblies did not provide sufficient load to the turn signal relay. I even replaced the relay with a new "electronic flasher relay" that I was assured would work from both posts here and the guy at the A/P store - it didn't. In the end I just spliced in my old incandecent lamp assemlies into the wire harness and tucked them up out of sight. Problem solved!

I am not sure on whether or not the hyper flashing can be solved . I bought some bulbs from superbrightleds.com and they are bright. Now they have different number of LEDS in differnet bulds so ordering the one with more is obviously brighter. I did back up lights and they are so much brighter it was amazing. They are true white also not the off dull white that is in them now. I did the 25 LED reverse light and did the front turn signals and they are also much brighter. Had hyper flashing though so have ordered the flasher that they sell for my truck as I didnt want to do resitors. I have the Recon tail lights also.

Recon makes some very good products and has good customer service as well. They went out of their way to take care of me several years back.

I understand that the resistors will take care of the hyperflash issue.

The Putco Nova LED bulbs did the trick! They are super bright and MUCH cheaper than replacing the whole tail light assembly! My turn/brake lights are now every bit as bright as the factory LED turn/brake lights on my wife's 2009 Mazda 6. Had to add the resistors to eliminate the hyper flashing, but that was a piece of cake. So far, I'm glad I didn't shell out the big bucks for the whole replacement assemblies!

2010 F-250 Flasher EP=27

I myself am having a simular problem with my 2010 F-250 SuperDuty

I have looked up behind the dash for the flasher module to replace it, since I installed some LED signals in the front. No luck in finding it at all. One was simular, but that is for the trailer lights. I recently installed some Spyder head light fixtures, and still had the incandescent bulbs in use until I received the led signals. It worked fine, normal flash, intil the leds were installed.

Is there a flasher relay for this year truck, or is it a program issue, anyone know? Eventually, I will be installing led tail, signal, and reverse fixtures along with the 3rd brake/cargo lights.

Would I need to install resistors on each led?

From our experience if you have our headlights and you switch out the oem bulb with a led bulb you will have to install a resistor for each turn signal light.
