External oil cooler mod?

Is there anybody that makes an external oil cooler kit for our engines? I have heard that Ford moved the oil coolers on the 6.4 engine to an external location so they can be replaced without tearing apart the top of the friggin engine. It sure would make sense that someone might come up with a mod kit to do this on the 6.0.

BulletProofDiesel. They are not cheap.

I have also heard that Dieselite may also be selling them now.

WTF?!?!?

What am I missing here? $$$EXPEN$IVE$$$ The cooling core shouldn't cost more than $100 or so; Where does the other $1900+ go?!?!? Do they machine the base out of pure 24K gold???

I don't know either. 1900, everything should be gold. If you look at Liberator performance their's is 1000. I'm looking for one too.

Did you catch the $700 core charge on the Liberator kit? Then add in tax and shipping...

you sir have been grossly mislead.
to remove an oil cooler on a 6.4 per the shop books you have to remove the...
1) cab
2) turbo's
3) the turbo pedistal
4) the intake
5) the oil cooler.

just figured I would share.

Woha, I guess I was a bit misled. Or maybe it was the new 6.7 engine they were referring to, I dunno... But regardless... Who the heck designed these things, where they doomed the purchaser with a certain failure buried deep in the top of the engine? WTF were they thinking?

Anyway, thanks for the replies folks. I'm glad that someone thought of doing something smart, like a mod to make an apparently routine maintenance item maintainable. Though the price of the kit seems a bit ridiculous, it sure beats knowing that I will need to do the imperative job of removing the top of the engine periodically to change that damned thing. Maybe I'll wait a bit, for the price to hopefully come down a little bit before I do that mod, but me thinks it's something I should do eventually.

IMO I would just stick with the oem cooler. you can do a flush with vc9 every 6 months and buy a coolant filter for the rest of your life cheeper then the remote oil cooler.
.02 worth.

Talking

I have the bulletproof system, and let me tell you guys
1. My truck runs cooler
2. Peace of Mind
3. I have looged over 30,000 trouble-free miles
4. Haven't been behind a tow truck since the upgrade

Ok, I know its a lot of money, but the chuck of billet aluminum that replaces the old cooler, probably costs $1,000 alone.

My .02 Cents

which one do you have???? I was about to get one but had questions that I couldn't find answers to. I like the liberator diesel cause I think it uses the stock oil filter. How much more oil does the kit hold than the oem??? Do you have any pics??

The cost of the "chunk" of aluminum is no where near 1000. We are paying for the r&d that the companies did to make this system fit. Which I am ok with because if this kit works then they need to be compensated for their work. I run into people all the time that have spent lots of money and are too proud to say that it was a mistake(please dont take this like I am accussing you of this, but I look at this forum as a fact finding tool, I am very interested in this kit and would really like to convers with someone that has it.

I'm tearing down my truck this weekend and plan on putting in a Sinister EGR Delete Kit and oil cooler from MKM Customs...kit is $665 w/ all gaskets and o-rings...far better than the $4,000 that was quoted to me from a local mechanic. My truck has around 275,000 miles on it with the original head studs and this is the first time the EGR Cooler/Oil Cooler has failed...*thanking my lucky stars!*
